Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Hiking Trails Closed
PA/NJ Hiking Trails Closed
For those who are planning a hiking trip in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area this Spring, you may want to check their current conditions before heading out. Thanks to Winter Storm Riley which hit the area with blizzard condition winds and very wet, heavy snow, the National Park Service has announced that it has closed all trails on the PA side of the DWGNRA excluding the Fossil Trail at PEEC, Raymondskill Falls Trail and the Appalachian Trail. The Van Campens Glen Trail on the NJ side is also closed though the NPS suggests not using any other trails in NJ until they have been assessed for hazards. Please check back here or at the NPS Facebook page for updates on trail closings.

Update: April 6, 2018 - The NPS has announced that the following hiking trail are now open: Coppermine Trail, Rattlesnake Swamp Trail, Coventry Pond Trail near Millbrook, Arrow Island Trail, and Slateford Loop Trail.

Update: April 9, 2018 - Great news! The entire McDade Trail is now open! Blue Mountain Lakes Trail, Crater Lake Trail and Skyline Drive have been opened as well.

Update: April 20, 2018 - The Arrow Island Trail, Slateford Loop Trail, and all beach and boat launch areas are open.

Update: April 23, 2018 - The National Park Service has confirmed that both the Scenic Gorge and Tumbling Waters trails at PEEC have been cleared for public use.

Update: July 20, 2018 - It looks like the majority of the trails in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation area are now open except for Childs Park, Dingmans Creek, Conashaugh Trail, Hornbecks Creek, Hidden Lake, Kaiser Trail, and the Two Ponds Trail.

Update: February 19, 2019 - The only trails that remain closed due to the damage caused by this storm include the Conashaugh View Trail, Childs Park, and Hornbecks Creek.
